Northeast of Fresno and Merced in the Sierra National Forest, the Red Lake/Coyote Lake OHV Route is a 3.5 mile route is rated Class B; however, travel becomes more difficult beyond Red Lake. This route travels travel to pristine, high-country lakes that hug the Dinkey Creek Wilderness Area. The trailhead is located east of State Highway 168 on Forest Service Road 8S10. It is next to the West Lake/Strawberry Lake OHV Route.
To get to the Red Mountain area, take Hwy 168 east from Clovis towards Shaver Lake. Continue 13 miles past Shaver Lake and turn on the Road 8S10, Red Mountain trailhead. Follow the signs for 3 miles to the intersection of Road 8S42, and then travel 2.5 miles to reach the trailheads.
