BUCKHORN OHV ROUTE

North of Santa Barbara in the Los Padres National Forest, the Buckhorn OHV Route is an awesome route heading deep into the backcountry. This route is on an old dirt road running north-south. It is a 9.2 mile one-way trek. This route is popular with mountain bikers, ATV riders and dirt bikers, so keep alert.

To reach the trailhead from Santa Barbara, head north on US101 to SR154 (use State Street exit). Head northwest on SR154 over the pass and then right onto Paradise Road. Head east on Paradise Road for about 8 miles to the Lower Oso Picnic Area. Turn left heading north up the paved Buckhorn Road for 1 mile to the Upper Oso Campground. There is a designated trailhead parking area to the east of the campground near a locked gate at the start of a dirt road.

From the parking area, start riding northeast on the Camuesa OHV Route for 3.8 miles to the start of the Buckhorn OHV Route. Turn left heading north on the Buckhorn OHV Route. It runs north for 9.2 miles. The total round trip from the parking area is 26 miles.
