Mescalero Sands North Dunes OHV Area

The 3rd most popular off-highway vehicle trail in New Mexico.

East of Roswell, the Mescalero Sands North Dunes OHV Area has 610 acres open to OHV use. The Bowl Parking Area provides access to the northern portion of the dunes which includes a region known as The Bowl. The Bowl is a large depression surrounded by dunes. The Cottonwoods Parking Area provides access to the southern portion of the dunes.

To reach the Bowl Parking Area trailhead from Roswell, head east on US380 for 45 miles. Turn south at the trailhead sign near milepost 192.

Note: there is no water at the recreation area.

Overall, Mescalero Sands North Dunes OHV Area is the 3rd most popular OHV & 4wd jeep trail of all 6 OHV routes in New Mexico.
