Gold Lake OHV Route

The 92nd most popular off-highway vehicle trail in California.

Near Beckwourth in the Plumas National Forest, the Gold Lake 4WD road around Gold Lake is a designated OHV route as it climbs up to the Sierra Crest. The route to the OHV Camp on the west-side of Gold Lake is good. To continue up to Summit Lake on the Sierra Crest requires climbing steeper grades with loose rock. With the Gold Lake OHV Camp on the west end of the lake, this makes this combination of trail and camping opportunities one of the best. The OHV campground, plus Squaw and Little Gold Lakes, are all accessed from the designated OHV road around south side of Gold Lake. This route is rated more difficult.

The Gold Lake 4x4 Camp is located 10 miles south of Hwy. 89 off of Gold Lake Hwy then 1 mile further on a 4x4 road to the campground.

Overall, Gold Lake OHV Route is the 92nd most popular OHV & 4wd jeep trail of all 102 OHV routes in California.
