South of Carson City and nort Markleeville, the Monitor Pass to US395 route is a 7 mile OHV drive that descends over 2,600 feet. This mountainside road offers scenic vistas into the Great Basin.

Overall, Monitor Pass is the 8th most popular OHV & 4wd jeep trail of all 10 OHV routes in Nevada. Several of the better ohv/4wd trails are nearby Monitor Pass including Sand Mountain Recreation OHV Area, Hungry Valley / Moon Rocks OHV Area, Genoa Peak Road, Ghost Town Loop, Boulder Flat, Jackass Flat and Risue Road.
