North of Amarillo near Fritch, the Lake Meredith National Recreation Area has OHV trails. The area is divided into 2 sections, Rosita ORV Area and Blue Creek Bridge ORV Area. The Rosita ORV Area has plenty of challenge with sand and hill climbs through diverse terrain. The 275 acre Blue Creek Bridge ORV Area is more remote and much drier than the Rosita ORV Area, with plenty of hill climbs and cliffs.

To reach the trailhead from Amarillo, head north on SR136 for 30 miles.

Contrasting spectacularly with its surroundings, Lake Meredith lies on the dry and windswept High Plains of the Texas Panhandle in a region known as Llano Estacado, or Staked Plain. Lake Meredith was created by Sanford Dam on the Canadian River and now fills many breaks whose walls are crowned with white limestone caprock, scenic buttes, pinnacles, and red-brown, wind-eroded coves. Above lies the mesquite, prickly pear, yucca, and grasses of arid plains. And up the sheltered creek beds stand cottonwoods, soapberry, and sandbar willows.

Overall, Blue Creek Bridge OHV Area is the 10th most popular OHV & 4wd jeep trail of all 11 OHV routes in Texas. Several of the better ohv/4wd trails are nearby Blue Creek Bridge OHV Area including Lake McClellan OHV Trails, Rosita ORV Area and Canadian River.
