South of Zurich and Luzerne, the Loipen Urserntal cross-country skiing trail system is a groomed track linking Andermatt, Hospental and Realp, which is an 18km trek. The tracks are groomed for both classical and skate skiiing, and has a few side tracks to explore.
Northeast of Grenoble and southeast of Albertville, the Courchevel Ski de Fond trail network has a total of 67 km spread over rolling valley countryside. This is a popular place for both classical cross country skiing and skate skiing.
Southeast of Zurich, St Moritz is a real paradise for serious cross country skiers. There are over 100km of maintained groomed cross country ski tracks around the town plus another 250km along the Engadin valley.
Southeast of Geneva and north of Chamonix, the town of Argentiere has a network of three cross country ski loops varying from 1.5km to 9.5km. Note: Usage of these trails requires a trail pass and these trails are regularly patrolled. Also, these are one-way trails, so obey signage.
East of Geneva, the Abondance valley has a 40km cross country skiing trail network along side the Dranse River. There are three distince trails including the trail along Lake Of Plagnes, the tour of the Brion Chalets in the Essert domain, and the Richebourg tour starting from the village center.
Surrounding the urban area of Oslo, there is a vast network of forested nordic ski trails. Overall, there are 2,600km of groomed trails with 90km that are lighted for evening cross country ski tours.
Northeast of Lillehammer, the Sjusjøen area has over 100km of groomed cross country ski trails. The nordic trails interconnect with the systems of Nordseter, Øyer, Hafjell, Lillehammer, Åstadalen, Rena and the Hamar region which means there are over 2,500km of trails to explore.
Lillehammer area is a skiing eldorado for ski enthusiasts. For centuries a cluster of mountain dairy farms, Nordseter and Sjusjøen - with their easily accessible forest and mountain terrain - have gradually developed into ine of Northern Europe's best cross-contry ski resorts.
