Lillehammer area is a skiing eldorado for ski enthusiasts. For centuries a cluster of mountain dairy farms, Nordseter and Sjusjøen - with their easily accessible forest and mountain terrain - have gradually developed into ine of Northern Europe's best cross-contry ski resorts. The mountain is approximately 850 metres above sea level and only 15km from downtown Lillehammer.
The area offers varied terrain and more than 2,500km of double-track cross country ski trails - with direct links to Lillehammer and to the Olympic tracks at Birkebeineren Ski Stadium. There are both alpine mountain trails and forested terrain trails, and all trails are clearly marked. There is a free ski bus that interconnects many of the nordic skiing destinations around Lillehammer.
Overall, Lillehammer is the 2nd most popular cross country ski area of all 6 Nordic ski destinations in Norway.
