In Stowe in the Mount Mansfield State Forest, the Bruce Backcounty Trail drops 2,500 feet over 2 miles through dense woods off Mt. Mansfield. Watch out for the vertical drop known as the elevator shaft! The route ends at the Stowe Cross Country Ski Center.

Overall, Bruce Backcountry Trail is the 9th most popular cross country ski area of all 29 Nordic ski destinations in Vermont.
