Near Aspen, the Buttermilk Ski Area has 45 miles of trails open to cross country skiers.
West Buttermilk Road Trailhead Directions: Drive through the Main Buttermilk parking lot from Highway 82 to West Buttermilk Road at the far right corner of the lot. The Owl Creek Trail crosses 1.4 miles up the road, by a small parking area on the right.
For apres ski, try Woody Creek Tavern. For nightlife, check out Shooters for dancing, Double Diamond for live music or Club Chelsea for rave. Still need more, try Jimmys American Bar, La Cocina, Lava Room and Erics Bar.
Overall, Buttermilk is the 26th most popular cross country ski area of all 51 Nordic ski destinations in Colorado. Several of the better cross country ski trails are nearby Buttermilk including Snowmass Nordic - West, Ashcroft, Snowmass Nordic - East and 10th Mountain Huts - West.
