Black Forest Trail Cross Country Skiing

The 20th most popular XC Ski in Pennsylvania.

Near Slate Run in the Tiadaghton State Forest, the Black Forest Trail is a 42 mile backcountry loop combining old railroad grades, old forest roads and trails through spectacular forests. This strenuous route climbs and descends numerous ridges, crosses many streams and is blazed with orange markers.

To reach the cross-country skiing trailhead from State Run, follow Slate Run Road west to parking area. Parking is also available north of Haneyville on SR44.

Overall, Black Forest Trail is the 20th most popular cross country ski area of all 35 Nordic ski destinations in Pennsylvania.
