Northeast of Tahoe City, the Nordic Center At Squaw Valley has 18km of cross-country ski trails spread across 400 acres. The cross country skiing winds through meadows and hillsides.
The lodging options at Squaw and nearby towns are very limited and very expensive.
Better known for the alpine skiing, this area is not known for its nightlife. For apres ski, try the Loft Bar, but the best bets are in Tahoe City (Pierce Street Annex, Pete & Peters, Naughty Dog) or Truckee (American Bar, Tahoe Taps or the Tourist Club).
Overall, Nordic Center At Squaw Valley is the 22nd most popular cross country ski area of all 36 Nordic ski destinations in California. Several of the better cross country ski trails are nearby Nordic Center At Squaw Valley including Royal Gorge XC, Kirkwood Cross Country Center, Northstar Cross Country Center, Sugar Pine Point State Park, Cabin Creek Cross Country Ski Area and Blackwood Canyon Sno-Park.
