South of Troy, the Ross Creek Trail is a 13km track intermittently groomed. Located 17 miles south of Troy on SR56.

To reach the cross-country skiing trailhead from the intersection of US 2 and SR 56 just south of Troy, go south on SR 56 for 18 miles. Turn right on NFD 398 and go to the trailhead, or as far as the snow allows on this unplowed road. Start skiing from where the car stops.

Overall, Ross Creek Trail is the 30th most popular cross country ski area of all 37 Nordic ski destinations in Montana.
