Birchwood Trails Cross Country Skiing

The 5th most popular XC Ski in Alberta.

Near Fort McMurray, the Birchwood Trail System has 14.7km of groomed tracks. The main trail descends into a forested valley. The trail is rolling with some steep sections. Part of the trail system follows the top of the valley. This part of the system is generally flat. Trail users may choose from a variety of options of shorter and longer loops.

The cross country ski trailhead is at Birchwood Cabin, which is adjacent to Birchwood Schoo on the north side of Thickwood Boulevard.

Overall, Birchwood Trails is the 5th most popular cross country ski area of all 37 Nordic ski destinations in Alberta.
