North of Kalamazoo and west of Hastings, the 5,200 acre Yankee Springs Recreation Area has numerous trails for cross country skiing.

To reach the trailhead from Kalamazoo, follow US131 north for 45 miles to Exit 61 near Bradley. Head east on 129th Ave. (aka Chief Noonday Road and SR179) for 8 miles. At Yankee Springs Road, turn right heading south to parking area.

Overall, Yankee Springs Recreation Area is the 8th most popular cross country ski area of all 47 Nordic ski destinations in Michigan. Several of the better cross country ski trails are nearby Yankee Springs Recreation Area including Fort Custer Recreation Area and Kal-Haven Trail.
