Southeast of Lake Placid, the Cascade XC Center has 20km of groomed cross country ski trails. The Cascade trail system also connects with the Mt Van Hoevenberg Olympic Trail System and the Jack Rabbit XC Trail System.

To reach the Cascade Cross Country Center from Lake Placid, head east on SR73 for about 5 miles. The ski center is on the right.

To reach the Cascade Cross Country Center from Albany, head north on US87 to Exit #30. Head west on SR9 to SR73. Continue west on SR73 for about 25 miles. Pass the Mt VanHovenberg center on the left. The Cascade Cross Country Center is about a mile or so further on the left.

Overall, Cascade Cross Country Ski Center is the 14th most popular cross country ski area of all 61 Nordic ski destinations in New York. Several of the better cross country ski trails are nearby Cascade Cross Country Ski Center including Mt. VanHovenberg Olympic Nordic Center, Five Ponds Wilderness, Essex County Trails, Jack Rabbit XC Ski Trail and Whiteface Club Nordic Center.
