Southeast of Crested Butte, Cement Creek Road is closed past the old guard station / Pioneer Guest Cabins and is great for backcountry treks east up the canyon.
To reach the cross-country skiing trailhead from Crested Butte, head south on SR135 to Crested Butte South. Turn left heading east on Cement Creek Road for about 1.5 miles to the winter trailhead.
Overall, Cement Creek is the 29th most popular cross country ski area of all 51 Nordic ski destinations in Colorado. Several of the better cross country ski trails are nearby Cement Creek including Crested Butte Nordic Center, Elk Mountain Grand Traverse, Slate River / Oh-Be-Joyful, Brush Creek, Kebler Pass System and Lily Lake Nordic Trail System.
