Between Kalamazoo and Battle Creek, the 3,000 acre Fort Custer State park has 20 miles of cross country ski trails through typical farm country with second growth forests and remnant prairie.

The Fort Custer Recreation Area is located 1/4 mile east of the village of Augusta. Traveling westbound on I-94, take Exit 92, north 4 miles to M-96, then west 7 miles on M-96 to the Park entrance.

Overall, Fort Custer Recreation Area is the 37th most popular cross country ski area of all 49 Nordic ski destinations in Michigan.
