Garnet National Winter Recreation Trail Cross Country Skiing

The 35th most popular XC Ski in Montana.

Northeast of Missoula, the Garnet Byway provides a 12 mile snowmobile/cross-country ski journey through the Garnet Mountain Range. The trail follows existing roads which are closed in the winter. The Byway, was well as 43 miles of adjacent trails, is marked and groomed from January 1 through April 30. Along the route, enjoy outstanding views from overlooks and visit a preserved ghost town.

To reach the trailhead from SR200, turn south between mile markers 22 and 23, about 30 miles east of Missoula. Plowed parking lots are provided at the trailhead close to Route 200.

Overall, Garnet National Winter Recreation Trail is the 35th most popular cross country ski area of all 37 Nordic ski destinations in Montana.
