West of Baldwin, a 27.4 mile stretch of the North Country Trail runs from the Freesoil Trailhead to Bowman Lake.

To reach the Bowman Lake Trailhead from Baldwin, head west on 52 Street. The road winds southwest and becomes 56th Street. The cross country ski trailhead is located across the Marquette River.
