West of Ridgway, the Laurel Mill area has 16 km of ungroomed cross country ski trails.

The trail is clearly marked with blue diamond-shaped markers on trees. The trail is classified as EASIEST, (for warm up and new skiers), MORE DIFFICULT, (for advanced beginners and intermediate skiers), and MOST DIFFICULT, (for experienced skiers). The loops designated for more difficult have a few hills and turns. The hills are clearly marked on the map and on the ground. The Elk Loop, Cook-Eli Connector Trail, Half Mile Loop, and Big Oak Trail are suitable for beginning skiers. The Scout Loop, Hemlock Loop and Sparrow Nest Loop are better suited for more experienced schussers.

The trailhead is located 3 miles west of Ridgway on TR307 (aka Spring Creek Road).

Overall, Laurel Mill Ski Trail is the 14th most popular cross country ski area of all 35 Nordic ski destinations in Pennsylvania. Several of the better cross country ski trails are nearby Laurel Mill Ski Trail including Clarion/Little Toby Creek Trail, Buzzard Swamp Loop, Brush Hollow Ski Trail, Westline Ski Trail, Deerlick Ski Trail and Hearts Content Ski Trail.
