Southeast of Pittsburgh and Donegal in the Forbes State Forest, the Roaring Run Natural Area has 10+ miles of cross country ski trails in ungroomed backcountry. There is a trailhead located on US31 east of Jones Mills.

Overall, Roaring Run Natural Area is the 18th most popular cross country ski area of all 35 Nordic ski destinations in Pennsylvania.
