Cooking Lake Blackfoot Provincial Park Cross Country Skiing

Southeast of Edmonton and Sherwood Park, the Cooking Lake Blackfoot Provincial Park has 21 groomed ski trails totaling 85km. The trails roll through knob and kettle terrain and along lakes. This is the site of the Canadian Birkebeiner.

To reach the cross-country skiing trailhead from Sherwood Park, head east on Highway 16 for 30km. Turn south on Range Road 210 for 7km.

Overall, Cooking Lake Blackfoot Provincial Park is the 19th most popular cross country ski area of all 37 Nordic ski destinations in Alberta. Several of the better cross country ski trails are nearby Cooking Lake Blackfoot Provincial Park including Miqueion Lake Provincial Park, Vermillion Provincial Park, River Valley Outdoor Centre and Elk Island National Park.
