North of Lanesborough, the 11,500 acre Mount Graylock State Reservation has miles of difficult backcountry ski trails about the namesake peak to explore.
To reach the trailhead from the Mass Pike US90, use Exit #2 in Lee. Follow SR20 west to SR7 north. Continue north from Pittsfield to Lanesborough. About 1.5 miles north of Lanesborough center watch for the Mt. Greylock Reservation and Visitor Center signs on the right. Turn right onto North Main St. and follow brown state reservation signs.
Overall, Mount Graylock State Reservation is the 2nd most popular cross country ski area of all 18 Nordic ski destinations in Massachusetts. Several of the better cross country ski trails are nearby Mount Graylock State Reservation including Maple Corner Farm, Notchview Reservation, Beartown State Forest and Canterbury Farm Ski Area.
