Southeast of Concord and Allenstown, the 10,000 acre Bear Brook State Park has 40 miles of cross country skiing trails through heavily forested terrain leading to seldom visited marshes, bogs, summits and ponds. Most routes combine trails, jeep roads and gravel roads.
For starters, the short Bear Hill Pond Loop is a challenging rolling trek. A larger loop combines the Catamount Trail, Lost Trail, Ferret Trail and Hall Mountain Trail. The trails can be rocky and muddy, at times.
A popular 10 mile route, sometimes known has Hall Mountain, starts from the trailhead parking area and heads down Campground Road (Lower Road) to the Broken Boulder Trail. Then heads south on the Broken Boulder Trail, across Spruce Pond Road and on to Poduck Road. Then it continues south to the Hall Mountain Trail, which heads west over Hall Mountain and loops back north to Poduck Road. It follow Poduck Road back north to the parking area (see red route on trail map).

Just past Suncook, turn left heading northeast on SR28 towards Allenstown. After 3 miles, turn right onto Bear Brook Road leading into the park.
