Clarence Fahnesock State Park Cross Country Skiing

North of NYC and southeast of Newburgh, the Clarence Fahnesock State Park has over 70 miles of trails. Many routes are shared by cross country skiers and snowmobilers. All the trails are blazed with round plastic discs of varying colors, or painted rectangular marks. A strech of the Appalachian Trail passes through the park (no bikes allowed). Camping is permited just east of Canopus Lake off SR301.

Overall, Clarence Fahnesock State Park is the 40th most popular cross country ski area of all 61 Nordic ski destinations in New York. Several of the better cross country ski trails are nearby Clarence Fahnesock State Park including Rampo-Dunderberg Trail, Mohonk Mountain House, Bear Mountain Loop Trail and Fahnestock Winter Park.
