Ramapo Mountain State Forest Cross Country Skiing

The 5th most popular XC Ski in New Jersey.

Northwest of Newark near Ringwood in Bergen County, the 4,200 acre Ramapo Mountain State Forest has 26 miles of cross country skiing trails.

To reach the cross-country skiing trailhead, take Route 287 to exit 57, follow Skyline Drive to parking lot on the left. The upper parking area for Ramapo Mountain State Forest on the left side of the road at milepost 1.4, opposite the entrance to Camp Tamarack.

Overall, Ramapo Mountain State Forest is the 5th most popular cross country ski area of all 14 Nordic ski destinations in New Jersey.
