Highbanks Trail Cross Country Skiing

The 34th most popular XC Ski in Michigan.

Southeast of Tawas, the Highbanks Trail is a 7 mile ungroomed cross country ski route with views of the Au Sable River Valley. There are two trailheads: Iargo Springs and Sid Town Village.

To reach the Sid Town trailhead from the intersection of US 23 and River Rd. in Oscoda, go west on River Rd. for just over 14 miles. Take a right on Cooke Dam Rd. and go 1.6 miles to Sid Town Village, park on the left.

Overall, Highbanks Trail is the 34th most popular cross country ski area of all 49 Nordic ski destinations in Michigan.
