Potawatomi Trail Cross Country Skiing

Northwest of Ann Arbor near Pinckney, the 11,000 acre Pinckney State Recreation Area has miles of cross country skiing trails. A popular route is the 17 mile Potawatomi Trail. The trails all begin at the Silver Lake unit. The Silver Lake trail is a two-mile looped trail, the Crooked Lake trail is a five-mile looped trail and Potawatomi trail is a seventeen-mile looped trail. The Losee Lake trail is a three and 1/2-mile loop. The Waterloo-Pinckney Trail is thirty-five miles.
The area is located in Washtenaw and Livingston Counties, fifteen miles northwest of Ann Arbor. For access from US-23, exit at number 49, turn west, travel eleven miles to Dexter-Town Hall Road, turn right. Entrance is one mile on left side of road. For access from I-94 is to exit at number 159, turn north, travel four miles to Werkner Road, turn right, follow the pavement to North Territorial Road, turn right, travel three miles to Dexter-Town Hall Road, turn left. Entrance is one mile on left side of road.
Overall, Potawatomi Trail is the 4th most popular cross country ski area of all 47 Nordic ski destinations in Michigan.
