East of Pulaski and Orwell in Oswego County, the Chateaugay State Forest has a 7 mile ungroomed trail network, plus 8 miles of unplowed roads.

To reach the cross-country skiing trailhead from US81, use the Pulaski Exit. Head east on SR2 (Pulaski-Redfield Road) through Richland and Orwell. Turn left heading north on Beecherville Road. Park here.

Overall, Chateaugay State Forest is the 15th most popular cross country ski area of all 61 Nordic ski destinations in New York.
