Big Aspen Trail Cross Country Skiing

The 16th most popular XC Ski in Minnesota.

North of Duluth and Virginia in the Superior National Forest, the Big Aspen Trail is a 20 mile multi-purpose route. The looping trail system follows old logging roads and railroad grades while passing through pine and hardwood forests.

To reach the cross-country skiing trailhead from Virginia, head north on SR53 for 8 miles. Turn right on CR131 for 1 mile. Turn left on CR68 for 0.3 miles. Continue straight on CR405 for 2 miles to parking lot.

Overall, Big Aspen Trail is the 16th most popular cross country ski area of all 39 Nordic ski destinations in Minnesota.
