South of Truckee in the Tahoe National Forest, the Pole Creek Cross Country Ski Area has 25 miles of nordic ski trails. The unmarked trails follow roads along Pole Creek and Silver Creek.

The trailhead is located south of Truckee on SR89 for 6 miles. Park on west side of road.
