West of Cadillac, the Mackenzie Trail is a 15km trail network open to mountain biking in the summer and cross-country skiing in the winter. Most trails are one-way.

To reach the trailhead from Cadillac, head west on SR55 for 12 miles to Caberfree Road. Turn north on Caberfree Road for 2 miles. Turn west on FS38 for 1 mile to trail entrance.

Overall, Mackenzie Cross Country Ski Trail is the 39th most popular cross country ski area of all 47 Nordic ski destinations in Michigan.
