Near Okoboji, the Iowa Great Lakes Trail is a 14 mile route from Milford to Spirit Lake open to snowmobiling and cross country skiing.

To reach the Milford Trailhead (southern trailhead) from the intersection of US 71 and CR A34 in Milford, go south on US 71 for 1 mile. Turn left on 230th St. and go 3 blocks to parking. The trail heads north.

Overall, Iowa Great Lakes Trail is the 13th most popular cross country ski area of all 15 Nordic ski destinations in Iowa.
