Located just outside of Cadillac, the Cadillac Pathway is one of the most popular cross country ski trails in northwestern lower Michigan. The Michigan DNR has recently done a huge amount of work to upgrade the trails surfaces and signage. The trail passes through a mixture of hardwoods and pines.

The pathway is composted of three sections: North Loop, Connector, and South Loop.

The North Loop is mostly flat and has a beautiful final half-mile along the Clam River, a blue ribbon trout stream. By using cut-off trails, riders can choose distances of 1, 2.5, or 4 miles.

The North Loop trailhead is located off Boon Road, roughly three miles east of US131. To reach the North Loop Trailhead from the intersection of US 131 and SR 55 in Cadillac, go north on US 131 for 2.3 miles. Turn right (east) on Boon Rd. (34 Mile Rd.) and travel 3.5 miles. Go left (north) on Seeley Rd. and go .12 miles to a road on the right. Turn here and look for parking.

The South Loop is very hilly and challenging, with several climbs of a quarter mile or so. There are two steep hills between trail between trail markers 12 and 8. Riders can choose trips of 5 or 3 miles. The South Loop trailhead is located on 13th Street, one mile east of US131 at the Wexford Vocational Education Center.

The Connector (the triangular section of trail 4-5-8) is uphill one way and downhill on the return. Its basically a straight up and straight down with few turns. This section is two miles in total length.

Overall, Cadillac Pathway is the 35th most popular cross country ski area of all 49 Nordic ski destinations in Michigan. Several of the better cross country ski trails are nearby Cadillac Pathway including Huron-Manistee National Forest, Corsair Ski Trails, Big M Cross Country Ski Trail, Hungerford Trail, North Country Trail - Marilla To Dilling, North Country Trail - Freesoil To Bowman Lake, Highbanks Trail, .
