Ashawa Cross Country Skiing

The 37th most popular XC Ski in Minnesota.

North of Cook in the Superior National Forest, the Ashawa trail system has 40km of cross-country ski routes through semi-wilderness. There is a mix of slopes and gentle hills through black spurce swamps.

To reach the southern trailhead from the intersection of CR24 and SR1, go north on CR24 for 5 miles. Park on the right. Its roughly 9 miles north of Cook.

Overall, Ashawa is the 37th most popular cross country ski area of all 39 Nordic ski destinations in Minnesota.
