In Annapolis County, the 8km Roxbury Road is open to hiking, mountain biking, ATV riding, horseback riding and nordic skiing. The trail follows along an old logging road. You walk by the Old Roxbury Settlement. The old ruins are marked with signs, and make the trail enjoyable to all history lovers.
There is a small plastic mail box nailed to a tree on the right hand side as you approach the old settlement. Inside is a notebook and pen, and you are encouraged to sign your name and write a few of your thoughts of your visit to Roxbury.
To reach the cross-country skiing trailhead, take exit 19 off highway 101 to Lawrencetown. Drive to end and take a left. Take first right to West Lawrencetown. Turn on the 201 West. Roxbury Road is off the 201 between West Paradise and West Lawrencetown. Look for road sign that says "Roxbury Road." Trailhead is approximately 1.35 km in from the main road. There is a spot to park on the left.
Overall, Roxbury Road is the 13th most popular cross country ski area of all 13 Nordic ski destinations in Nova Scotia.
