Air Line Trail Cross Country Skiing

The 7th most popular XC Ski in Connecticut.

Northeast of East Hampton, the 37km Air Line Trail is a reasonalby level nordic ski route. There are numerous trailhead access points along the route. This southern section runs from East Hampton northeast to Windham.

In addition to this southern section, there is a lesser developed northern section. The northern section is a 27 mile route from Windham to Putnam. It is undeveloped railroad ballast that is mainly used by nordic skiers in the winter. Keep in mind that section from Pomfret to Putnam needs good snow coverage since it is pretty rough underneath.

Overall, Air Line Trail is the 7th most popular cross country ski area of all 7 Nordic ski destinations in Connecticut.
