Flagtail Trail Cross Country Skiing

The 11th most popular XC Ski in Oregon.

South of John Day in the Malheur National Forest, the Flagtail Trail (#221) is a 15 mile route open to cross-country skiing. It connects with numerous side trails ranging from 2.1 to 3 miles long.

To reach the trailhead from John Day, head south on SR395 for 13 miles to Izee Road. Turn right for 9 miles. Turn right on FS645 to the trailhead.

Overall, Flagtail Trail is the 11th most popular cross country ski area of all 24 Nordic ski destinations in Oregon.
