Southeast of Albertville and Bourg Saint Maurice, the Lieu Peisey area has six ski du fond piste totaling 43km. The pistes vary from 2km-14km and range in elevation from 1475m to 1650m.
The Lieu Peisey ski du fond trailhead is in Nancroix-La Chenarie. The pistes provide access to three huts along the routes includng Les Chabottes, Le Fer a Cheval, and L'Ancolie.
To reach the ski du fond at Lieu Peisey by air, try to fly into Chambery or Lyon. Then, take the train towards Bourg Saint Maurice. There are local buses up to Lieu Peisey.
TIP: If you are planning to arrive by train, keep in mind that the regular bus up to the resort is primarily during daylight hours. After dark, the bus runs infrequently, if at all. Therefore, you will need to take a cab from the train station to the resort. If you plan to fly into Lyon, you may want to check the train schedule before buying your flight to make sure there is a convenient transfer. If you plan to arrive Friday through Sunday, the shuttle Altibus might be a more convenient option.
Overall, Lieu Peisey is the 19th most popular cross country ski area of all 19 Nordic ski destinations in France.
