Northwest of Torino and west of Aosta, the village of La Thuile has a small but challenging network of cross country ski trails to explore. The trail system is a series of concentric loops.
For apres ski action, hopefully you're not expecting much. You're best bet is Les Cage Aux Folles at the base. La Thuile is not really known for its nightlife. But if you really are looking for some nightlife, try checking out La Bricole disco bar, La Cage aux Folles, Konver and Bar La Buvette.
To get to the nordic ski trails at La Thuile, you can either fly in Geneva and drive through the Mt Blanc tunnel (about 2.5 hours), or you can take a train into the nearby Pre-St-Didier train station (4.5km) from Turin Airport. Also, as of the winter 2014, there is a SAVDA bus that runs nine times a day between La Thuile and Courmayeur. To help get around town, there is a free ski bus looping the villages every 25 minutes. The nordic ski trails are located on the south side of the town away from the alpine ski area base.
Overall, La Thuile is the 10th most popular cross country ski area of all 16 Nordic ski destinations in Italy.
