Southwest of Salzburg, the St. Johann in Tirol area has over 170km of forested track maintained by serious cross country skiers. The quiet Tyrolean town of St. Johann is picturesque with the outline of Kitzbuhlerhorn forming part of the valley. Its just around the horn from the nordic trail system in Kitzbuhel, as well.

To reach this area from Salzburg, follow Route 215 west through Germany. Near Lofer, head west on Route 704 and then head southwest on Route 312 to St. Johann.

Overall, St. Johann in Tirol is the 5th most popular cross country ski area of all 16 Nordic ski destinations in Austria.
