Telemark Loop Cross Country Skiing

The 10th most popular XC Ski in Alberta.

In Lake Louise north of Banff, the Telemark Loop is a challenging 9.3 km cross country ski route on intermittently groomed track. The trail begins behind the Chateau Lake Louise on the lake shore. Ski north to the trailhead signs and veer to the right up a short slope. After winding around the north end of the Chateau, the Telemark Loop descends steeply for 1.6 km (stay to the right) to the closed 1A Hwy. Continue across the road and begin steep rolls for 4 km through thick woods before reaching 1A again. Turn left and ski back up 1A for 1.7 km. Veer right at trail sign to ascend back to the Chateau.

Overall, Telemark Loop is the 10th most popular cross country ski area of all 37 Nordic ski destinations in Alberta.
