Maligne Canyon Trail Cross Country Skiing

The 13th most popular XC Ski in Alberta.

Near Valley of Five Lakes south of Jasper, the backcountry Maligne Canyon Trail (#7) runs from the Valley of Five Lakes up to Maligne Canyon. The Maligne Lake area has 20 km of groomed trails plus backcountry ski touring in the snowfield of Bald Hills above the treeline. To reach the trailhead from Valley of Five Lakes, head south on SR93 (a.k.a. Jasper-Banaff Highway) and watch for trailhead parking area. Overall, Maligne Canyon Trail is the 13th most popular cross country ski area of all 37 Nordic ski destinations in Alberta.
