Heart Creek / Skogan Pass Loop Cross Country Skiing

The 4th most popular XC Ski in Alberta.

Near Kananaskis Village, a great 60+km loop can be formed by combining four cross country ski trails. Starting from the Barrier Dam, follow the Stoney Trail towards Kananaskis Village. Pickup the Skogan Pass Trail and follow 10 km over to Dead Mans Flats. Before reaching the highway crossing, turn right onto the Transcanada Trail into the Heart Creek trailhead parking area. Follow the Heart Creek Trail east to a gravel road and then turn right heading south. Climb over Jewel Pass and then descend back down to Barrier Lake.

Overall, Heart Creek / Skogan Pass Loop is the 4th most popular cross country ski area of all 37 Nordic ski destinations in Alberta.
