Emerald Lake Loop Trails Cross Country Skiing

The 4th most popular XC Ski in British Columbia.

East of Golden and northwest of Lake Louise, the YNP is home to great nordic ski adventures framed by the stunning Presidential Range, with its peaks up to 9,000. The 10 km of cross country skiing trails around Emerald Lake are groomed and trackset regularly. The trails lead up into the Emerald Lake Basin which is a beautiful box canyon studded with snow-covered peaks at Yoho Pass.

The Emerald Lake trailhead is located on the shores of the lake near Field, about 55 km east of Golden. Or park at the Field Visitor Center on the TransCanada Highway and follow the Tally Ho / Emerald Lake Connector trail up to the lake for an additional 22 km.

If you re looking for backcountry, try telemarking on the Opabin Glacier or Odaray Plateau, or tour across the Biddle Glacier to the southeast.

Overall, Emerald Lake Loop Trails is the 4th most popular cross country ski area of all 56 Nordic ski destinations in British Columbia.
