Located 40km east of Montreal, Rougemont is one of the best places to ski with a network of cross country skiing trails all over the mountain. To get oriented, follow the Montee Trail (an old jeep road) from the parking area winding all the way to the top (4km / 390m). Look for a small trail at the top leading back down.

Next, circumnavigate the mountain on the longest trail, Principale. There are plenty of side trails on this 4 hour loop.

To reach the cross-country skiing trailhead from Montreal, head east across the Champlain bridge onto Route 10. After 30km, use exit 37 and follow Route 227 north for 10km. Turn east (right) onto Route de Rougemont (AKA Range de le Montagne) for 5 km. Turn left onto Chemin du Moulin and park at the end in front of the cabane a sucre.

Overall, Rougemont is the 13th most popular cross country ski area of all 35 Nordic ski destinations in Quebec. Several of the better cross country ski trails are nearby Rougemont including Far Hills Inn Ski Center, Morin Heights, Domaine Vert Regional Park, Auberge La Montange Coupee, Mont Sutton and Mont Orford National ParkSki Bromont.
