Pic de Tarbesou Cross Country Skiing

Near Ax-les-Thermes, the backcountry ski tour of Pic de tarbesou is a half-day adventure. Start skiing from the ski station at Ascou Pailhere (1,600m). With skins, head east up to the col (2000m) and then follow the ridge southwest up to the summit (2,360m). Return either by the same route or drop into the gully on the east and down the southeast slope beneath the ridge.

Overall, Pic de Tarbesou is the 4th most popular cross country ski area of all 19 Nordic ski destinations in France. Several of the better cross country ski trails are nearby Pic de Tarbesou including Col de Puymorens to Orlu and Pic de la Cabanette.
