North of Lillehammer, the Gala area has a scenic 30 km groomed cross country ski loop. The gently rolling nordic skiing trails around Gålå are very popular with the regional ski clubs. In addition to the loops, the long-distance Peer Gynt Trail passes through the trail system connecting Gala with other nearby villages to permit skiing from town to town. Along the way, there are exceptional vistas of the alpine landscape of Jotunheimen National Park and also Rodane National Park.
Overall, Gala is the 4th most popular cross country ski area of all 6 Nordic ski destinations in Norway.
