Lake District National Park Cross Country Skiing

The 9th most popular XC Ski in UK.

North of Liverpool in the Lake District National Park, the village of Ambleside makes a great base to explore the wild and scenic cross country ski trails near Troutbeck, Kentmore and in the Grizedale Forest. Ambleside is located at the north end of Lake Windermere. From the north, exit M6 at junction 40 (Pernith) and proceed west on A46. Turn left onto A592 over Kirkstone Pass. At a fork, bear right into the village.

While in the area check out the trails in the Pennines Range near Upper Teesdale (B6277 to Moor House & Dunn Fells) or Cheviots Hills at the northern end.

Overall, Lake District National Park is the 9th most popular cross country ski area of all 9 Nordic ski destinations in UK.
